MMMP 11TH ANNUAL SANTA SLEIGH RUN CHRISTMAS PARADE

MakeMyMotherProud is pleased to announce our 11th Annual Santa’s Sleigh Run Christmas Parade for the Far Rockaway Community. We can’t believe it has been 11 years since Hurricane Sandy impacted our Far Rockaway community.

The Santa Sleigh Run Christmas Parade was inspired during Hurricane Sandy when we wanted to help people that lived in locations that were too far from distribution sites, parents that were disabled and couldn’t make it out to locations to get toys for their children, and most importantly, we wanted to bring holiday cheer right to the community’s doorsteps.

Each year, the Santa Sleigh run was amazingly successful, traveling over 5 miles singing and dancing through the Rockaway Streets on a twenty-seven (27) foot float provided by Bonds float. People come out their doors dancing, and they wave from their windows as we passed by with Santa blessing the community with his “Ho Ho Ho” on the sound waves. The best part one year was when we ran out of toys, the community still was excited to see us coming and ran to the sleigh with open arms just to say, “Thank you for lifting my spirits”.

Since 2012, because of all the hard work in the community by the MakeMyMotherProud team received numerous awards from all the Political parties in the Rockaway community. This year, we received the President Joseph R. Biden Lifetime Achievement Award for Volunteer Service and the Danny Glover Humanitarian Award.
